SMALL ANIMAL CASTING TECHNIQUES

The DELTA-NET Synthetic Stockinet should fit snugly and be free of any wrinkles or bunching. Wrinkles may result in discomfort or pressure sores. Sufficient material should be left at both ends, proximal and distal, to allow for adequate protection. This excess stockinet will later be folded over and incorporated into the cast as well.
DELTA-ROLL Cast Padding is applied at the sites of soft and hard tissue pressure points, such as the elbows. This is accomplished by folding four to six layers of synthetic cast padding in sufficient widths to cover these areas.
Put on the blue casting gloves* to ensure a tack-free application. Gloves must be worn when applying DELTA-LITE "S" Fibreglass Casting Tape. Use the finger-hole openings for easy removal of casting tape from the pouch. Hold the tape loosely, keeping the thumb or forefinger under the leading edge of the bandage, thus eliminating any possible difficulty in locating the starting end after saturation. Immerse the roll in water at room temperature ( 70° F to 80° F; 21° C to 27° C ) and firmly squeeze 4-5 times under water for approximately 5 seconds, remove and apply dripping wet.

Note: water which is too warm may result in premature setting of the cast.

* Blue casting gloves are NOT to be used as examination gloves.
