Avian Venipuncture

This has not been a good day!

The most common venipuncture site in parrots is the right jugular vein, which is usually much larger than the left. Obtaining blood by clipping a toenail short is not considered an acceptable method of obtaining a sample -  it is stressful and painful to the bird and causes multiple artifacts.
