Definition = inflammation of the stomach
acute gastritis:
infectious
viral - parvo, distemper, corona, panleukopenia, hepatitis viruses
bacterial - salmonella, campylobacter, E. coli, helicobacter
parasistic - Physaloptera, Ollulanus
dietary
indiscretion
plants
spoiled food
dietary hypersensitivity
toxic
NSAIDs
glucocorticoids
heavy metals
cleaning agents
some antibiotics
chronic gastritis (if over 3 week duration) characterized by:
type of cellular infiltrate
area of mucosa affected
severity of inflammation
mucosal thickness
topography
