Description.  Plants have smooth, linear leathery green leaves that arise along tall stem.   Leaves are alternate.  Flowers are showy (trumpet shaped), racemose and 3-merous.
Toxic principle:  unknown.  All parts of the plant should be considered toxic.
Toxicity:  not well defined, but any ingestion should be considered serious.
Diagnosis: Text Box: In Osweiler’s text there is reference to day-lilies being toxic (Hemerocallus sp.).  To my knowledge there are no documented cases of intoxication from these plants.

Clinical Signs:  related to acute renal failure (anorexia, depression, anuria)

Laboratory diagnosis: consistent with acute renal failure.

Lesions:  acute renal tubular necrosis

Treatment:

·        Consider as a medical emergency

·        GID

·       Fluid diuresis
