So what exactly is a browser?

It is just a software application that allows you to look at (or browse) the World Wide Web. Just like Word Perfect, Word and Macwrite are all word processing applications - Netscape, Mosaic and Lynx are all WWW browsing applications. Hence they are known as browsers. So when I say "Use your browser's Back button", I mean use the "Back" button that comes with your software application (aka browser) that you use to look at the Web.

In Netscape:

In Mosaic: Please Note: If your browser is neither Netscape nor Mosaic, there is information available on how to download the newest version of Netscape.
