E. bovis -- Oocyst and sporulation

The unsporulated oocyst is passed in feces and at moderate temperatures, in the external environment, it will sporulate (development of infectious sporozoites) within 48-72 hours. The single germinal mass in the center of the unsporulated oocyst will divide into 4 sporocysts, in each of which will develop 2 sporozoites (for a total of 8 sporozoites per sporulated oocyst).
