COLLIMATOR

Uniformity is a parameter of the scintillation camera that depicts the variability of count density and distribution. A homogenous distribution of activity is essential to good diagnostic technique.  Non uniformity may be visualized as either a "hot" or "cold" spot.  A flood study would rule out non uniformities. Collimator defects or improper adjustment of the x and y deflector plates in the CRT (cathode ray tube) can cause this artifact.
