Corticorubrospinal Tract
It is important to note that:
- This tract is part of the dorsolateral group, so it innervates distal musculature (i.e. distal forelimb and hindlimb).
- This tract decussates after it synapses with the red nucleus in the midbrain.

|
Slide 97 : Telencephalon
- Begins in 1º motor cortex.
- 1º motor cortex signals can be modified by premotor and supplementary (association) motor areas.
|
Slide 49 : Midbrain
- Axons exit cerebral peduncle and synapse on neurons of red nucleus of midbrain.
- Red nucleus axons then decussate within the midbrain.
|
Slide 24 : Medulla |
Slide 7 : C6
- Axons descend in the dorsolateral funiculus of spinal cord and synapses on interneurons in laminae V, VI, VII, and IX throughout spinal cord.
- Innervates muscles of distal forelimb and hindlimb.
