Laminitis (Founder)

Is Laminitis Significant?

I consider ventral rotation of the third phalanx (laminitis or founder) radiographically significant. The degree of ventral rotation and the clinical history would determine whether a horse has a manageable degree of laminitis or whether the probability of significant recurrent lameness is great. I believe one has to explain the significance of this radiographic change to the purchaser and let him decide whether he can manage the condition.
