Netscape's "Stop"

"Stop" is important because it serves as an abort or cancel button.

For example, if you are at home downloading a large JPEG image (pronounced JAY-peg), and you only have a 14400 baud modem, and the 110K enlarged image is taking a very long time to download (three or four minutes). You decide that the thumbnail photo was good enough and that you don't want to wait four minutes to see an enlargement of it. You would select the "Stop" button to cancel the downloading of the image and to continue with the program.
