LARGE ANIMAL EMERGENCY SERVICE INITIAL ASSESSMENT

Do to the severity of most emergency cases, a catheter is often inserted to facilitate I.V. access. 

In this case, fluids may be needed if there is significant blood loss. You also may choose to administer I.V. antibiotics.
