LARGE ANIMAL EMERGENCY SERVICE INITIAL ASSESSMENT

Your decision to take radiographs should be based on how lame is the horse, any suspicious signs from the physical exam, and the owner's wishes. 

Some owners will be very insistent that you take radiographs. You may explain to them why you do not feel they are necessary and then go ahead and take them anyway so that the client is satisfied.
