Sulfadimethoxine Chemical group: Sulfonamide Trade names: Albon, Bactrovet Mode of action: Folic acid synthesis inhibitor, coccidiastatic. Pharmacokinetics: Readily absorbed from the gut, eliminated in the urine (dog) or metabolized in the liver and excreted as acetylsulfadimethoxine in the bile (cat and other species). Dose: 55 mg/kg the first day, then 27.5 mg/kg, SID for 10 to 14 days (PO) Toxicity: low Parasite Targets: Isospora spp.
