Mebendazole

Chemical group: benzimidazole

Trade name: Telmintic Powder

Mode of action: Binds to tubulin and interferes with microtubule formation.

Pharmacokinetics: Poorly absorbed, thus action limited to gut.

Dose: 22 mg/kg (PO), SID, for 3 days.

Toxicity: Acute toxic dose not found (above 1000 mg/kg in dogs and cats).

Parasite Targets: Hookworms, Ascarids, Trichuris vulpis, Physaloptera sp. (Stomach worm in dogs), Taenia sp., Echinococcus granulosus.
