Epsiprantel

Chemical group:     Isoquinoline-pyrazine

Trade name:          Cestex

Mode of action:    Unknown, may interfere with calcium metabolism leading to detachment and disruption of the tegument.

Pharmacokinetics:    Poorly absorbed from gut. Leaves host in feces as parent compound.

Dose:    Cat: 2.75 mg/kg (Use in cats over 7 weeks of age.)

              Dog: 5.5 mg/kg (Use in dogs over 7 weeks of age)

Toxicity:    Minimum lethal dose in rats was greater than 5000 mg/kg. No adverse reactions seen in kittens given 29.9 mg/kg and none in puppies given 100 mg/kg.

Parasite Targets:    Tapeworms
