Pickles; twelve year old, female spayed, mixed breed dog

HISTORY:
"Pickles" had received dental prophylaxis under anesthesia and a subcutaneous injection of moxidectin (Proheart 6® - an injectable heartworm preventative labeled for every-6-month administration) over the dorsal scapular area.  Skin lesions, which were first noted twelve days later, included patches of hair loss with erythema.  Skin lesions progressed rapidly and became erosive and exudative, while spreading to involve many areas of the body.
TREATMENT HISTORY:

Steroids were administered on day 14 (injectable triamcinolone and oral prednisone): there was no improvement. Limb edema developed several days later and the dog was presented to the VHUP emergency service and transferred to internal medicine.
