Fibropruritic Nodule

Focal or multifocal hyperplastic dermal nodule(s) associated with chronic self-trauma and inflammation.

Gross Appearance:

Histology:
•Nodular lesions 
•Covered by a markedly hyperplastic epidermis 
•Compact orthokeratin on the surface 
•Dermis often shows marked fibrosis 
•Normal dermal collagen is replaced by thick coarse bundles of collagen 
•Often has loss of adnexa 
•Hypersensitivity pattern of inflammation is present in the adjacent dermis
