Pilo-leiomyoma

A benign tumor of smooth muscle (erector pili muscle).

Gross Appearance:
Solitary or multifocal 
Well-circumscribed, ovoid, and firm

Histology:
Unencapsulated 
Composed of interwoven fascicles of long, plump spindle to straplike cells
Abundant pink cytoplasm 
Indistinct cell borders
Collagen production is negligible
Nuclei are elongate, but tend to be blunt-ended (used to distinguish from fibromas and well-differentiated fibrosarcomas)
Mitotic figures are absent
