"KITT"

2 year old male Standardbred

HISTORY
He was 'foot sore and tied up' after a very long, arduous trail ride ten days ago and was given several doses of phenylbutazone.  Over the following week, he began to go off his feed and became lethargic. He was reported to have collapsed several times.  The urine was noted to be a dark red-brown color.  He also had an irregular heartbeat and tachycardia.

PHYSICAL EXAM
Kitt arrived down in the trailer and was unable to rise.  He was aware and responsive to his surroundings.  Initial exam revealed a regular heartbeat, thready pulse and cool extremities.  Abdominal auscultation revealed fluid gastrointestinal sounds.
