"Sasha"

13 year old  male castrated Domestic Short-Haired Cat

OUTCOME
Sasha was treated with 131I for her hyperthyroidism. He got 5 mCi of 131I subcutaneously and was kept in the hospital for 4 days. His clinical signs started improving in 1 week. By his two week checkup, he had gained 1/2 kg. Her T4 at this point was 0.8 ug/dl. This is a little low as expected since the normal thyroid tissue has been suppressed and needs time to recover. At 1 month his T4 was 1.5 ug/dl (normal). He was clinically normal and had gained 1 kg of weight. He continues to do well.
