"Tugger"

11 year old male, castrated Mixed Breed

OUTCOME
"Tugger" was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit and was treated with IV fluids, fresh frozen plasma, oxygen therapy because of his dyspnea, cimetidine and metoclopromide to reduce the vomiting, regular insulin to regulate his diabetes, and total parental nutrition to provide nutritional support while he was still vomiting and unable to take anything by mouth. He initially responded to treatment with decreased vomiting and was able to be weaned off the supplemental oxygen. However, on the sixth day of hospitalization, he became acutely dyspneic again. Differential diagnoses included aspiration pneumonia, pulmonary thromboembolism, and ARDS. Despite being placed back on supplemental oxygen, "Tugger" respiratory arrested that night and was unable to be resuscitated. No necropsy was performed.
