**  If the RBC count is known, an absolute reticulocyte count is determined.   

Absolute reticulocyte  count = Retic % of RBC
= 5.7% of 4.62 M/microliter
= 0.057 X 4.62 M/microliter
= 0.26 M/microliter
= 263,300 /microliter
